CHILDREN’S DAY OUTREACH : SPECIAL NEED SCHOOL

The project titled “Celebrating Special People with Special Abilities” took place at the Special Needs School in Ile-Ife, Osun State, to commemorate Children’s Day 2024 under the theme “For every child, every right.” It aimed to promote inclusivity, joy, and empowerment among children with disabilities by emphasizing that every child deserves access to quality education, happiness, and the right to dream. The outreach featured engaging activities such as motivational talks, self-affirmations, singing, dancing, and interactive interviews that encouraged the children to express their aspirations and believe in their limitless potential. Supported by volunteers from OAU Campus Ambassadors, the Volunteering Hub Team, and the More to Me Organization, the event brought together about 150 students and teachers in an atmosphere of love and celebration.

Aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), the initiative addressed the limited societal support and inclusiveness often experienced by children with special needs, especially during festive and educational events. Beyond the celebration, it sought to raise community awareness about the importance of acceptance, emotional well-being, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. The program successfully inspired both children and volunteers, leaving a lasting impression of compassion, resilience, and the shared responsibility of building a more inclusive and supportive society.
